The Seattle Seahawks suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, despite the return of quarterback Geno Smith from injury. Smith had missed the previous game due to a shoulder injury, and his return was expected to give the Seahawks a boost.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Rams. The Seahawks had a chance to win the game late in the fourth quarter, but a missed field goal by kicker Jason Myers sealed their fate.
The game was close throughout, with both teams trading leads in the first half. The Rams took a 10-7 lead into halftime, and extended it to 17-7 in the third quarter. The Seahawks then rallied back, with Smith leading the way. He threw for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, and the Seahawks took a 21-17 lead with just over two minutes left in the game.
The Rams responded with a touchdown drive of their own, and the Seahawks had one last chance to win. Smith drove them down the field, and they had a chance to kick a game-winning field goal. However, Myers’ kick sailed wide right, and the Rams escaped with a 24-21 victory.
Despite the loss, there were some positives for the Seahawks. Smith looked sharp in his return from injury, throwing for 315 yards and two touchdowns. He also showed good mobility, scrambling for key first downs throughout the game.
The Seahawks will now have to regroup and focus on their upcoming game against the San Francisco 49ers. If they can get back to winning ways, they will be in good shape for the playoffs.
