American forward Josh Sargent scored his seventh goal of the season for Norwich in a 3-2 loss at home to Preston North End on Saturday in England’s second tier League Championship.

American defender Auston Trusty scored his first two goals for Birmingham in a 3-0 win over visiting Bristol City.

Sargent, a 22-year-old from O’Fallon, Missouri, dribbled to the top of the penalty area and rolled the ball to the right of goalkeeper Freddie Woodman and inside the post in the second minute.

Sargent is second in the League Championship in scoring, one goal behind Luton’s Óscar Estupiñán. Sargent is competing for forward spots on the U.S. roster with Jesús Ferreira, Ricardo Pepi, Jordan Pefok and Brandon Vazquez.

Trusty, a 24-year-old from Media, Pennsylvania. scored in the third and 43rd minutes for Birmingham. The first goal was a 3-yard header past goalkeeper Daniel Bentley from Tahith Chong’s corner kick. The second was a 6-yard header from Hannibal Mejbri’s free kick.

Trusty signed with Arsenal in January from Colorado and remained on loan with the Rapids, then was loaned to Birmingham by the Gunners in July.

Two American goalkeepers hoping to be on the U.S. roster were in action in the League Championship. Zack Steffen played for Middlesbrough in a 2-0 defeat at Milwall and Ethan Horvath was in net for Luton in a 0-0 draw at West Bromwich Albion.
