The Washington Commanders had a tough day on the field as they lost 40-20 to the Chicago Bears in their first defeat of the season. The Commanders, led by head coach Ron Rivera, were hoping to start the season off with a win, but the Bears proved to be too strong.
The Commanders had a strong start to the game, scoring a touchdown on their first drive of the game. However, the Bears responded with a touchdown of their own and never looked back. The Bears scored three more touchdowns in the first half to take a 27-7 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Commanders were able to score two more touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit. The Bears added another touchdown and a field goal to seal the victory.
The Commanders offense struggled throughout the game, only managing to gain a total of 229 yards. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins had a rough day, throwing for only 139 yards and two interceptions. Running back Antonio Gibson was able to find some success, rushing for 81 yards and a touchdown.
The Commanders defense was also unable to contain the Bears offense, allowing them to gain a total of 441 yards. Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky threw for three touchdowns and ran for another.
The loss was a disappointing start to the season for the Commanders, but they will look to rebound in their next game against the New York Giants. Coach Ron Rivera will need to make some adjustments if the Commanders want to have a successful season.
