The Valero Texas Open is in full swing, and the leaderboard is heating up. After three rounds, American golfer Patrick Rodgers has taken the lead by three strokes.
Rodgers, who is currently ranked 41st in the world, started the tournament strong with a four-under-par 68 in the first round. He followed that up with a two-under-par 70 in the second round, and then a five-under-par 67 in the third round. This put him at 11-under-par for the tournament, three strokes ahead of his nearest competitor.
Rodgers has been playing some of the best golf of his career this season. He has had five top-10 finishes in his last seven events, including a win at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. He is looking to add another win to his resume this week at the Valero Texas Open.
The competition is fierce, however, as there are several other players within striking distance of Rodgers. American golfer Charley Hoffman is in second place at eight-under-par, while Australian Cameron Davis is in third place at seven-under-par. Other notable players near the top of the leaderboard include Americans Ryan Moore and Harris English, who are both tied for fourth place at six-under-par.
The final round of the Valero Texas Open will be an exciting one, with Rodgers looking to hold onto his lead and the rest of the field looking to catch up. It should be an exciting finish to an already thrilling tournament.
