It was recently announced that Mariners broadcaster Rick Rizzs will be absent from the team’s upcoming homestand following an ATV accident. The accident occurred on Sunday, and Rizzs was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Rizzs has been a part of the Mariners broadcast team since 1991 and is one of the most beloved figures in the Seattle sports community. He is known for his enthusiasm and passion for the game, as well as his signature catchphrase, “It’s a Grand Salami!”
The Mariners organization released a statement expressing their concern for Rizzs and wishing him a speedy recovery. They also said that they are grateful for his many years of service to the team and the fans.
The team has not yet announced who will fill in for Rizzs during the homestand, but they have said that they will make an announcement soon. In the meantime, fans can still listen to the games on the radio and watch them on television.
This is not the first time that Rizzs has been absent from the broadcast booth due to injury. In 2015, he missed several games after suffering a broken ankle in a fall.
We here at Mariners Nation wish Rick Rizzs a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in the booth soon.
