On April 16th, the Texas Rangers made history when they routed the Seattle Mariners in a 10-2 victory. The game was even more special, however, as it marked the major league debut of Bryan Woo, the Rangers’ rookie pitcher. Woo, who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 MLB Draft, had been waiting for this moment for years.
Woo started off strong, striking out two batters in the first inning and allowing only one run in the second. He was able to keep the Mariners off balance with a mix of fastballs and off-speed pitches. His performance earned him a standing ovation from the crowd at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
The Rangers’ offense was also impressive, led by home runs from Joey Gallo and Shin-Soo Choo. The team scored seven runs in the fourth inning alone, giving Woo plenty of cushion to work with. He finished the game with five strikeouts and two earned runs in five innings of work.
After the game, Woo was all smiles as he talked about his debut. “It’s been a long journey, but I’m so happy to be here and to have made my major league debut,” he said. “I’m just grateful for the opportunity and I’m going to keep working hard to make sure I stay here.”
The Rangers’ victory was a great way to cap off an exciting day for Woo and the team. It was a special moment for a young player who has worked hard to reach this level. With his performance against the Mariners, Woo has certainly made a name for himself and is sure to be a key part of the Rangers’ success going forward.
