The Purdue Boilermakers have done it again! On Wednesday, December 2nd, they defeated the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the Maui Invitational behind a stellar performance from freshman center Zach Edey.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading leads throughout the first half. However, Purdue was able to take control in the second half, thanks in large part to Edey’s impressive performance. The freshman center scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the victory. He was also able to provide a spark on the defensive end, blocking three shots and altering several others.

The Boilermakers were also able to get contributions from their other players, including guard Jaden Ivey who had 16 points and five assists. Forward Trevion Williams added 13 points and eight rebounds, while guard Brandon Newman chipped in with 11 points.

The win was a big one for Purdue, as it was their first victory over a top-10 ranked team this season. It also marked the first time that the Boilermakers have won the Maui Invitational since 2003.

The victory was especially impressive considering that the Boilermakers were without their leading scorer Sasha Stefanovic, who is out with an ankle injury.

Overall, it was a great team effort from Purdue, and they should be proud of their performance. With Edey continuing to play at a high level, the Boilermakers have a great chance to make some noise in the Big Ten this season.
