The University of Washington Huskies kicked off their 17th preseason camp practice on Monday, and the team is looking to build on last season’s success. The Huskies finished the 2019 season with a 10-4 record and a Pac-12 championship. With the start of the 2020 season just around the corner, the team is looking to make another run at the conference title.
The Huskies’ projected starting lineup for the upcoming season has been released, and it looks to be a strong one. The offensive line will be anchored by senior left tackle Trey Adams, who is returning from injury. He’ll be joined by senior center Nick Harris and senior guard Luke Wattenberg. On the defensive side of the ball, the Huskies are led by senior defensive end Levi Onwuzurike, who is coming off a strong 2019 season. He’ll be joined by senior defensive tackle Josiah Bronson and senior linebacker Kyler Manu.
The Huskies have also added several new players to the roster, including freshman quarterback Dylan Morris and freshman wide receiver Puka Nacua. Both Morris and Nacua have been impressive during camp and look to contribute this season.
After Monday’s practice, head coach Chris Petersen had some positive things to say about his team. He noted that the team is working hard and is making progress each day. He also praised the leadership of Adams, Harris, and Wattenberg on the offensive line, as well as Onwuzurike and Bronson on the defensive line.
Overall, the Huskies look to be in good shape heading into the 2020 season. With a strong returning core of players and some promising newcomers, the team looks poised to make another run at the Pac-12 title. The team will continue to practice throughout the week before their first game against Eastern Washington on September 5th.
