The Philadelphia Phillies have kicked off their National League Division Series in style, defeating the Atlanta Braves 3-0 in Game 1 thanks to a Bryce Harper home run.
The Phillies got off to a great start in the first inning when Harper hit a solo home run to give them an early 1-0 lead. They then added two more runs in the fourth inning, giving them a comfortable 3-0 lead.
The Phillies’ pitching was stellar throughout the game, with starter Aaron Nola throwing seven shutout innings and striking out nine batters. The bullpen then came in and shut the door, with Jose Alvarez and David Robertson combining for two scoreless innings to secure the victory.
Harper’s home run was the highlight of the night, as it gave the Phillies a much-needed boost early in the game. Harper finished the night 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.
The Phillies now have a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series, and will look to build on that lead in Game 2. The Braves will need to find a way to get their offense going if they want to have a chance at winning the series.
It was an exciting start to the NLDS, and the Phillies will look to keep their momentum going as they look to advance to the next round.
