The Seattle Seahawks have confirmed that star safety Jamal Adams will be playing in their upcoming game against the New York Giants. This news comes after weeks of speculation and rumors that Adams would be joining the team.
The Seahawks acquired Adams in a blockbuster trade with the New York Jets earlier this month. In exchange for Adams, the Jets received two first-round picks, a third-round pick, and safety Bradley McDougald.
Head coach Pete Carroll confirmed the news on Thursday, saying, “We’re thrilled to have Jamal joining us. He’s a great player and a great leader. We know he’ll make an immediate impact on our defense and we’re looking forward to seeing him on the field.”
Adams is an All-Pro safety who has been one of the best defensive players in the league since he was drafted sixth overall by the Jets in 2017. He has recorded 18 sacks, nine forced fumbles, and two interceptions in his three-year career.
Adams is expected to make his Seahawks debut on Sunday when they take on the Giants at MetLife Stadium. He will be joining a defense that already features All-Pros Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright, as well as Pro Bowlers Quandre Diggs and Shaquill Griffin.
The addition of Adams gives the Seahawks one of the best defenses in the NFL and makes them a legitimate Super Bowl contender. It will be exciting to see how Adams and the rest of the defense perform in their first game together.
