Paris Saint-Germain have made a major managerial change, dismissing Christophe Galtier and appointing Luis Enrique as their new manager. This comes after the club decided to part ways with Thomas Tuchel, who had been in charge since 2018.
Tuchel had a successful tenure at PSG, leading the club to two consecutive Ligue 1 titles and the Champions League final in 2020. He also guided the club to the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue titles in 2019. However, the club’s recent poor form in the league and their elimination from the Champions League this season were the deciding factors in Tuchel’s departure.
Christophe Galtier was appointed as Tuchel’s successor on a temporary basis, but the club has now decided to go in a different direction and appointed former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique. Enrique is a highly experienced manager, having won two La Liga titles and the Champions League with Barcelona, as well as guiding Spain to the 2018 World Cup.
Enrique has been tasked with restoring PSG’s fortunes in both domestic and European competitions. He will have a wealth of talent at his disposal, with the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Angel Di Maria all at his disposal.
It remains to be seen whether Enrique can bring success to PSG, but it is clear that the club are looking to make a statement with their appointment. With his experience and pedigree, Enrique will be looking to make an immediate impact at the Parc des Princes.
