The Pac-12 conference has had a great season of football and the postseason awards and All-Conference team have been announced. Jon Wilner, a college football analyst for the San Jose Mercury News, has released his picks for the Pac-12 award winners and All-Conference team.
The Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year award went to Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert. Herbert had a great season for the Ducks, throwing for 3,333 yards and 32 touchdowns while leading Oregon to a Pac-12 championship and a Rose Bowl berth.
The Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year award went to USC defensive tackle Jay Tufele. Tufele was a force on the Trojans’ defensive line, recording 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
The Pac-12 Coach of the Year award went to Washington State head coach Mike Leach. Leach led the Cougars to an 8-4 record and a berth in the Alamo Bowl.
The Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award went to Oregon State running back Jermar Jefferson. Jefferson rushed for 1,380 yards and 12 touchdowns in his first season with the Beavers.
Jon Wilner’s All-Conference team included Herbert, Tufele, Jefferson, Washington State quarterback Anthony Gordon, Oregon wide receiver Juwan Johnson, USC wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell, Washington State offensive lineman Abraham Lucas, USC defensive lineman Christian Rector, Oregon linebacker Troy Dye, and Washington cornerback Elijah Molden.
The Pac-12 had a great season of football and these awards and All-Conference team selections are well deserved. Congratulations to all of the award winners and All-Conference team members!
