The Oregon State Beavers were victorious in a thrilling overtime game against the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Saturday. Oregon State was led by Tres Tinkle’s 25 points, including six three-pointers, as the Beavers defeated Appalachian State 81-71.
The game was close throughout, with neither team able to pull away. Oregon State held a slim lead for much of the second half, but the Mountaineers kept it close and eventually tied the game at 67 with just seconds remaining in regulation.
In overtime, however, the Beavers were able to take control. Tinkle scored nine of Oregon State’s 14 points in the extra period, including three three-pointers. His performance was instrumental in helping the Beavers secure the win.
Tinkle was joined by Stephen Thompson Jr., who had 18 points and seven rebounds, and Drew Eubanks, who had 15 points and nine rebounds. The trio combined for 58 of Oregon State’s 81 points.
For Appalachian State, Ronshad Shabazz led the way with 22 points and seven rebounds. He was joined by Tyrell Johnson, who had 16 points and seven rebounds, and Griffin Kinney, who had 14 points and seven rebounds.
The win was a big one for Oregon State, as it improved their record to 8-2 on the season. The Beavers will look to continue their winning ways when they take on the Arizona Wildcats on Tuesday.
