The Oregon Ducks have secured their spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game with a 36-27 win over the USC Trojans on Friday night. The Ducks were led by quarterback Tyler Nix, who had a career night, throwing for four touchdowns and a season-high 467 yards.
Nix was nearly perfect, completing 33 of his 39 passes and not throwing an interception. He spread the ball around to nine different receivers, with Johnny Johnson III leading the way with eight catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Nix also connected with Mycah Pittman for two touchdowns, and Jaylon Redd for one.
The Ducks defense also had a strong performance, limiting USC to just 27 points and forcing two turnovers. The Ducks forced a fumble in the first quarter and intercepted Kedon Slovis in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.
Oregon’s win was their sixth straight and improved their record to 8-2 overall and 7-2 in the Pac-12. The Ducks will now face the winner of the Pac-12 North Division in the Pac-12 Championship Game on December 18th.
The Ducks have been one of the most consistent teams in the Pac-12 this season, and they are now just one win away from their first conference title since 2014. With Nix playing at an elite level and the defense making big plays, the Ducks are looking like a team that could make some noise in the postseason.
The Ducks will look to keep their momentum going as they prepare for their final regular season game against Oregon State next week. If they can win that game, they will be in prime position to make a run at the Pac-12 title.
