On June 8th, Oral Roberts University (ORU) made history by defeating Oregon 11-6 in the NCAA Super Regional. This victory marked the first time ORU has advanced to the College World Series since 1978.

The ORU Golden Eagles had a strong start to the game, scoring five runs in the first inning and never looking back. ORU was led by designated hitter Cal Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a home run. The Golden Eagles also received strong performances from starting pitcher Miguel Ausua and relief pitcher Jack Jumper, who combined to hold Oregon to just six runs.

The victory was especially sweet for ORU, as the team had been close to making it to the College World Series in recent years. In 2019, ORU lost in the Super Regional to Mississippi State, and in 2020, the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

ORU head coach Ryan Folmar was ecstatic after the win, saying, “This is a dream come true for our program and for our players. We’ve worked so hard to get here and I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

The Golden Eagles will now travel to Omaha, Nebraska to compete in the College World Series. ORU will face off against Arkansas on June 19th in their first game of the tournament.

ORU’s victory over Oregon is an incredible accomplishment for the university and its baseball program. The Golden Eagles have worked hard to get to this point and they are sure to make a strong showing in the College World Series.
