The Alabama Crimson Tide made a statement on Saturday night, defeating the No. 13 LSU Tigers 42-28 in a thrilling SEC matchup. Alabama’s offense was led by Najee Harris, who ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns, while Mac Jones threw for 293 yards and four touchdowns.
The Crimson Tide got off to a hot start, scoring on their first two possessions to take a 14-0 lead. LSU responded with a touchdown of their own, but Alabama answered back with two more touchdowns to take a 28-7 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Tigers fought back, scoring two touchdowns to cut the lead to 28-21. But Alabama responded with two more touchdowns, one from Harris and one from Jones, to take a 42-21 lead. LSU added a late touchdown, but it wasn’t enough as the Crimson Tide held on for the win.
Harris was the star of the night for Alabama, but freshman quarterback Bryce Young also had a solid performance, completing 10 of 16 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.
Unfortunately, LSU quarterback TJ Finley left the game early in the second half due to an injury. He was replaced by Max Johnson, who threw for two touchdowns and ran for another.
Overall, it was an impressive performance by Alabama, who improved to 8-0 on the season. The Crimson Tide will look to continue their winning streak next week when they face Mississippi State.
