The Oregon State Beavers have had a great start to the season, and they continued that success with a 42-17 victory over the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei was the star of the show, throwing for five touchdowns and leading the Beavers to a comfortable win.
Uiagalelei had a big day, completing 24 of his 33 pass attempts for 360 yards and five touchdowns. He spread the ball around to seven different receivers, with Trevon Bradford leading the way with seven receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Uiagalelei also ran for a touchdown, giving him six total touchdowns on the day.
The Beavers defense also played well, holding the Spartans to just 17 points. They forced two turnovers, including an interception by safety Jalen Moore. The Beavers also had five sacks on the day, led by linebacker Hamilcar Rashed Jr., who had two sacks and two tackles for loss.
The win was the Beavers’ fourth in a row and improved their record to 5-1 on the season. They have now won five straight games against San Jose State, dating back to 2015. The Beavers will look to keep their winning streak alive when they take on Arizona State next Saturday.
Uiagalelei’s performance was impressive, and it’s clear that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the Pac-12. He has now thrown for 17 touchdowns this season, and he is just getting started. If he continues to play at this level, the Beavers could be in for a special season.
