In recent news, Baylor University women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey has reported that she has had no contact with former star Brittney Griner since her return from Russia. Griner, a three-time All-American and two-time NCAA champion, left Baylor in 2013 to pursue a professional career overseas.

Mulkey told ESPN that she had not spoken to Griner since the former star returned from Russia. “I haven’t talked to Brittney since she left for Russia,” Mulkey said. “I don’t know what she’s doing. I don’t know if she’s playing or not.”

Griner left Baylor after a highly successful college career that saw her become the first player in NCAA history to score 2,000 points and block 500 shots. She was also the first player to be named Big 12 Player of the Year three times. After leaving Baylor, Griner signed with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association. She then moved on to play for UMMC Ekaterinburg in Russia.

Mulkey said that she was sad to see Griner leave Baylor, but is proud of her accomplishments. “I’m so proud of Brittney,” Mulkey said. “She was a great player at Baylor and I wish her all the best.”

Griner’s return to the United States has been shrouded in mystery, as it is unclear whether or not she is still playing basketball professionally. However, it is clear that Mulkey has not had any contact with her former star since her return.

Mulkey’s comments come as a surprise to many, as Griner was one of the most successful players in Baylor history. It remains to be seen if Mulkey and Griner will reunite in the future, but for now it appears that the two have gone their separate ways.
