Mookie Betts made a triumphant return to Boston on Tuesday night, hitting a home run in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 7-4 win over the Red Sox.

The former Red Sox star was traded to the Dodgers in February, and this was his first game back in Boston since the trade. Betts received a standing ovation from the Fenway Park crowd when he stepped up to the plate in the first inning.

Betts responded to the cheers with a solo home run to left field. It was his first home run of the season and the first time he had ever hit a home run at Fenway Park as a visiting player.

The Dodgers went on to score seven runs in the game, with Betts contributing two hits and two RBIs. He also made a great defensive play in the eighth inning, throwing out a runner at first base.

The Red Sox put up a fight, scoring four runs in the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Dodgers’ lead.

Betts’ home run was a special moment for him and for Red Sox fans, who had grown to love him during his six years in Boston. He was an All-Star four times and won three Gold Glove awards during his time with the Red Sox.

It was an emotional night for Betts, who said after the game, “It was definitely special to be back here and get that kind of reception. It was really cool.”

The Dodgers will now head to New York for a three-game series against the Mets, while the Red Sox will travel to Baltimore for a four-game series against the Orioles.
