After a brief absence due to an appendectomy, Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen McCarthy is set to return to the sidelines this Sunday when the Cowboys face off against the Philadelphia Eagles.
McCarthy underwent the procedure last week and was forced to miss the Cowboys’ Week 11 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. In his absence, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy took over play-calling duties and the team was able to pull off a 31-28 victory.
Kellen McCarthy has been with the Cowboys since 2018 and has been instrumental in the team’s success over the past few seasons. He has been praised for his ability to get the most out of his players, and his return is expected to provide a boost to an offense that has struggled at times this season.
The Cowboys are currently 5-5 and in second place in the NFC East. They are coming off of a much-needed win against the Vikings, and with McCarthy back in the fold, they will look to build on that momentum against their division rivals.
McCarthy is expected to be back on the sidelines for Sunday’s game and will resume his play-calling duties. He will be joined by quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier, who has been filling in for McCarthy since his absence.
The Cowboys have a tough task ahead of them as they face off against an Eagles team that is coming off of a dominant win over the New England Patriots. However, with McCarthy back in the mix, the Cowboys will have a better chance of coming away with a victory.
It remains to be seen how McCarthy’s return will affect the Cowboys’ offense, but one thing is certain: With McCarthy back in the fold, the Cowboys have a better chance of success against their division rivals.
