Maxie Baughan, Philadelphia Eagles and Georgia Tech Hall of Fame Member, Passes Away at 85

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Maxie Baughan, a Philadelphia Eagles and Georgia Tech Hall of Fame member, at the age of 85.

Maxie Baughan was born in 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a standout football player at Georgia Tech, where he was an All-American linebacker and a member of the 1956 National Championship team. After college, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1959 and went on to have a successful career with the team. He was named to the Pro Bowl five times and was named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1964. He was also a member of the 1960 NFL Championship team.

After his playing career, Baughan went on to become a coach for the Eagles, the Los Angeles Rams, and the San Diego Chargers. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame in 1989.

Baughan was known for his hard work and dedication to the game of football. He was a leader on and off the field and was respected by his teammates and coaches alike. He was an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed.
