The Atlanta Braves have placed starting pitcher Max Fried on the 10-day injured list with a strained left forearm. The injury occurred during a game against the New York Mets on August 8th.
Fried, who is in his fourth season with the Braves, has been a key contributor to the team’s success this season. He has a record of 8-0 with a 3.25 ERA in 11 starts. He has also struck out 67 batters in 64.2 innings of work.
The Braves are hopeful that Fried will be able to return to the mound soon. However, the severity of the injury is still unknown and the team is taking a cautious approach with their prized pitcher.
In the meantime, the Braves will turn to their bullpen to fill the void left by Fried. They have already recalled right-handed pitcher Touki Toussaint from Triple-A Gwinnett to take Fried’s spot in the rotation. Toussaint has made three starts for the Braves this season and has a record of 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA.
The Braves are currently in first place in the National League East and are hoping to make a deep run in the playoffs this season. Losing Fried for any length of time could be a major setback for the team. However, they have shown an ability to overcome injuries this season and will look to do so again with Fried on the shelf.
The Braves and their fans will be keeping a close eye on Fried’s recovery process and hoping for a speedy return to the mound. Until then, the team will rely on their bullpen to help them stay atop the NL East standings.
