NFL star Marshawn Lynch is set to stand trial in Las Vegas in November for a DUI charge. The former Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders running back was arrested in July of 2020 after being pulled over by police.
According to the police report, Lynch was pulled over after he was seen driving erratically and failing to maintain his lane. When officers approached his vehicle, they noticed the smell of alcohol and Lynch admitted to having consumed alcohol. He was then taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence.
The trial is set to begin on November 10th in Las Vegas. If convicted, Lynch could face up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. He could also be subject to additional penalties, including community service, probation, and license suspension.
This is not the first time Lynch has been in trouble with the law. In 2008, he was arrested for a DUI in California and was later sentenced to three years probation. In 2012, he was arrested for an alleged assault in Seattle and later pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
Lynch is currently a free agent and has not played in the NFL since 2018. He has been linked to several teams over the past few years, but has yet to sign with any of them. It remains to be seen how this latest legal issue will affect his chances of returning to the league.
Regardless of the outcome of the trial, it is important for everyone to remember that driving under the influence is a serious offense that can have serious consequences. It is important to always make sure you have a designated driver if you plan on drinking and never get behind the wheel if you are impaired.
