On Tuesday night, the Seattle Mariners faced off against the San Francisco Guardians in a game that showcased the impressive pitching of Mariners’ rookie Logan Gilbert. Gilbert, who was making his major league debut, was impressive in his five innings of work, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out seven batters. Unfortunately, the Mariners were unable to capitalize on his performance and were unable to score a single run against the Guardians.
Gilbert was in control from the start of the game, striking out the first two batters he faced and allowing just one hit in the first three innings. He showed excellent command of his pitches, mixing his fastball and curveball to keep the Guardians off balance. He was able to induce weak contact from the Guardians’ hitters, and he was able to work out of a few jams with some timely strikeouts.
The Mariners’ offense, however, was unable to take advantage of Gilbert’s performance. They were held to just four hits in the game, and were unable to push a run across the plate. The Guardians’ starter, Tyler Anderson, was able to keep the Mariners off balance with a mix of fastballs and off-speed pitches. He was able to induce weak contact from the Mariners’ hitters, and he was able to work out of a few jams with some timely strikeouts.
Overall, it was an impressive performance from Logan Gilbert in his major league debut. He showed excellent command of his pitches and was able to keep the Guardians off balance for most of the game. Unfortunately, the Mariners were unable to take advantage of his performance and were unable to score a single run against the Guardians. It will be interesting to see how Gilbert performs in his next start and if the Mariners can provide him with some run support.
