The Seattle Mariners are in the final stages of completing their roster for the upcoming season. With the addition of several new players and the departure of some veterans, the team is looking to make a statement in the American League West.
The Mariners have been active in the offseason, adding several veterans to the roster. They acquired outfielder Domingo Santana from the Milwaukee Brewers, infielder Tim Beckham from the Baltimore Orioles, and pitcher Yusei Kikuchi from Japan. They also signed free agent outfielder Jay Bruce and reliever Cory Gearrin.
The team also made some subtractions, trading away starting pitcher James Paxton to the New York Yankees and relievers Alex Colome and Juan Nicasio to the Chicago White Sox. They also released veteran outfielder Denard Span.
The Mariners have also added some depth to their minor league system, signing several players to minor league contracts. These players include pitchers Erasmo Ramirez, Shawn Armstrong, and Roenis Elias, as well as infielder Brad Miller.
With the final roster nearly complete, the Mariners are expected to make a few more moves before Opening Day. They are reportedly interested in signing free agent reliever Adam Warren and could also look to add another outfielder or two.
