On Sunday, the Seattle Mariners pulled off an incredible win against the Tampa Bay Rays, one of the best teams in Major League Baseball. After trailing 5-0 early in the game, the Mariners rallied to defeat the Rays 7-6 in a thrilling victory.
The Mariners got off to a slow start, as the Rays scored five runs in the first two innings. However, Seattle refused to give up and began to chip away at Tampa Bay’s lead. In the fourth inning, Kyle Seager hit a two-run home run to cut the deficit to three runs. Then, in the sixth inning, Mitch Haniger and Omar Narvaez hit back-to-back solo home runs to tie the game at five.
In the top of the ninth inning, the Mariners took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Tim Beckham. The Rays had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, but reliever Anthony Bass was able to get out of a jam and secure the win for Seattle.
The win was especially impressive considering that the Rays had been playing some of the best baseball in the league this season. They entered Sunday’s game with a record of 28-12, which was the best in MLB. The Mariners, on the other hand, had been struggling and had lost eight of their last nine games.
The win was also important for Seattle because it gave them a series victory over Tampa Bay. The Mariners had lost the first two games of the series, but they were able to rally and take two out of three from one of the best teams in baseball.
The Mariners will look to build on this momentum as they travel to Texas for a four-game series against the Rangers. If they can keep playing like they did on Sunday, they may be able to turn their season around and make a run at a playoff spot.
