ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Jarod Lucas scored 28 points, Kenan Blackshear hit a short-range jumper that rimmed in at the buzzer and Nevada beat New Mexico 77-76 on Tuesday night.
Jamal Mashburn Jr. ’s jump shot gave New Mexico a one-point lead with 18 seconds to play. Following a Nevada timeout, Blackshear took possession and dribbled the floor before hitting the game-winner from just inside the free-throw line.
Lucas was 11 of 18 shooting (6 for 9 from distance) for the Wolf Pack (19-6, 9-3 Mountain West Conference). Blackshear scored 12 points, shooting 4 of 10 from the field and 3 for 4 from the line. Will Baker recorded 10 points and went 5 of 9 from the field.
Mashburn led the way for the Lobos (19-5, 6-5) with 21 points and six assists. Morris Udeze added 18 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks for New Mexico. Jaelen House finished with 18 points and six rebounds.
Lucas scored 12 second-half points for Nevada.
