The LSU Tigers have done it again! On Saturday, the Tigers defeated the Wisconsin Badgers 35-31 in the ReliaQuest Bowl behind a stellar performance from quarterback Myles Nussmeier as the successor to Joe Burrow.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with the Tigers taking an early lead, only to see the Badgers come back and take the lead late in the fourth quarter. But Nussmeier was up to the challenge, leading the Tigers on a game-winning drive that culminated in a touchdown pass to Terrace Marshall Jr. with just over a minute left in the game.
Nussmeier finished the game with a career-high 324 passing yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a rushing touchdown. He was named the game’s MVP for his performance.
The win was especially sweet for the Tigers, who were playing without their star quarterback Joe Burrow, who was sidelined with an injury. Nussmeier stepped up in his absence and showed that he is more than capable of leading the team in Burrow’s absence.
The win also marked the first bowl victory for LSU since 2016, when they defeated Louisville in the Citrus Bowl. It was a great way to end the season for the Tigers, who finished with an 8-5 record overall.
Overall, it was a great performance from Nussmeier and the rest of the Tigers in the ReliaQuest Bowl. They showed that they can still compete at a high level even without their star quarterback, and they will look to build on this success heading into next season. Congratulations to the LSU Tigers on their victory!
