The Sacramento Kings have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven series against the Golden State Warriors after a thrilling 114-106 victory on Wednesday night.
The Kings were led by a balanced attack that saw five different players score in double digits. De’Aaron Fox was the star of the show, scoring a game-high 27 points to go along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds. Buddy Hield added 24 points, while Harrison Barnes and Nemanja Bjelica each scored 16 points. Richaun Holmes rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points.
The Warriors, who were without star guard Stephen Curry, were led by D’Angelo Russell’s 25 points. Draymond Green added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists, while Alec Burks chipped in 16 points off the bench.
The Kings jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 19 points in the first half. The Warriors made a late push in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to just four points with under two minutes to go, but the Kings held on for the win.
The Kings will look to take a stranglehold on the series when they host the Warriors for Game 3 on Friday night. The Warriors will need to find a way to contain Fox and the rest of the Kings’ offense if they want to get back into the series.
It’s been an impressive start for the Kings, who are looking to make their first playoff appearance since 2006. With a 3-0 lead in the series, they would be just one win away from advancing to the second round of the playoffs.
