The Arizona Diamondbacks have been on a roll lately, and it’s largely due to the stellar play of shortstop Ketel Marte. Marte has been on an absolute tear this postseason, setting a new record for the longest hitting streak in postseason history.
Marte’s streak began during the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He hit safely in all four games of that series, and then kept it going in the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. He hit safely in all five games of that series, and then kept it going in the World Series against the Boston Red Sox. He hit safely in all four games of that series, giving him a total of 13 consecutive games with a hit.
But that was only the beginning. Marte kept it going in the Wild Card game against the Colorado Rockies, and then in the National League Division Series against the Atlanta Braves. He hit safely in all five games of that series, giving him a total of 19 consecutive games with a hit. That set a new record for the longest hitting streak in postseason history.
Marte’s streak is even more impressive when you consider that he was facing some of the best pitching in baseball during that stretch. He was able to keep his focus and stay locked in despite the pressure of the postseason. It’s a testament to his skill and determination as a hitter.
The Diamondbacks have been on an incredible run this postseason, and much of it can be attributed to Marte’s performance. He has been a huge part of their success, and his record-breaking hitting streak will be remembered for years to come. Congratulations to Ketel Marte on setting a new postseason record!
