The Seattle Seahawks have been dealt a blow with the news that Kenneth Walker III will be inactive for their back-to-back games against the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. Walker, a third-year wide receiver, has been a key contributor for the Seahawks this season, leading the team in receptions and receiving yards.
Walker suffered an ankle injury in the Seahawks’ Week 11 loss to the Arizona Cardinals and was unable to practice this week. He had been listed as questionable on the team’s injury report, but the Seahawks decided to hold him out of both games. This means that Seattle will be without one of their top offensive weapons for two crucial divisional matchups.
The Seahawks have been relying heavily on Walker this season, as he has been their most reliable target in the passing game. He has caught a team-high 44 passes for 572 yards and four touchdowns. His absence will put more pressure on quarterback Russell Wilson to find other targets in the passing game.
Walker’s absence could also open up opportunities for some of Seattle’s other young receivers. David Moore, Malik Turner, and John Ursua are all expected to see increased playing time in Walker’s absence. Moore has been especially impressive this season, catching 27 passes for 471 yards and four touchdowns.
The Seahawks will certainly miss Walker’s production over the next two weeks, but they will have to find a way to make up for his absence. It will be interesting to see how Seattle’s offense adjusts without one of its top playmakers.
