The New Orleans Saints had a historic day on Sunday as running back Alvin Kamara broke the franchise’s all-time career touchdown record. Kamara scored his 42nd career touchdown in the Saints’ 34-0 victory over the New England Patriots, surpassing the previous record held by Deuce McAllister.
Kamara was instrumental in the Saints’ victory, finishing with a total of 134 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. His first touchdown came in the first quarter on a two-yard run, and his second touchdown was a four-yard reception in the fourth quarter. He also had four receptions for 41 yards and six carries for 93 yards.
Quarterback Drew Brees was also impressive, throwing for 293 yards and two touchdowns. His first touchdown was a three-yard pass to tight end Jared Cook in the second quarter, and his second touchdown was a five-yard pass to wide receiver Michael Thomas in the fourth quarter.
The Saints defense also had an outstanding performance, holding the Patriots to just 154 total yards and forcing three turnovers. Linebacker Demario Davis led the way with seven tackles and one interception, while safety Marcus Williams had four tackles and one interception.
The Saints are now 8-2 on the season and have a two-game lead in the NFC South. They will look to continue their winning ways next week when they take on the Denver Broncos.
