Julie Ertz Retires from Soccer After 10 Years and Two Women’s World Cup Titles

After a decade of playing professional soccer, Julie Ertz has announced her retirement. Ertz has had a remarkable career, winning two Women’s World Cup titles and becoming one of the most decorated players in the sport.

Ertz, who was born in Phoenix, Arizona, began her career with the Chicago Red Stars in 2013. She quickly established herself as one of the best players in the league, earning multiple All-Star selections and helping the Red Stars to the playoffs in each of her five seasons with the team.

In 2015, Ertz was part of the United States Women’s National Team that won the World Cup in Canada. She was a key contributor to the team’s success, playing in all seven matches and scoring a goal in the semifinal against Germany.

Ertz was also part of the USWNT’s 2019 World Cup-winning team. She started every match and scored a goal in the final against the Netherlands.

Ertz has also had success at the club level, winning two NWSL Championships with the Red Stars in 2016 and 2019.

Ertz’s retirement marks the end of an incredible career. She has been an inspiration to many young players and her legacy will continue to live on. She will be remembered for her hard work, dedication, and leadership both on and off the field.
