Jose Altuve Hits 4 Home Runs in 4 Consecutive At-Bats Against Texas Rangers

MLB Seattle

On Saturday, August 3rd, 2019, Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve made history by becoming the first player in Major League Baseball (MLB) to hit four home runs in four consecutive at-bats against the Texas Rangers.

Altuve’s incredible feat began in the top of the first inning when he hit a solo home run off of Rangers starter Ariel Jurado. He then followed it up with another solo shot in the third inning, and then a two-run homer in the fifth inning. In the seventh inning, Altuve capped off his historic performance with a grand slam off of reliever Jesse Chavez.

The four home runs marked a career-high for Altuve, who now has 20 home runs on the season. The Astros went on to win the game 14-3, with Altuve leading the way.

Altuve’s performance was praised by his teammates and manager A.J. Hinch. “It’s an incredible feat,” Hinch said. “It’s hard to put into words what he did today.”

Altuve’s achievement is even more impressive considering that he had only hit three home runs in his previous 27 games before Saturday’s game. He now joins some of the most elite players in MLB history, such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Reggie Jackson, who have all hit four home runs in a single game.

Altuve’s performance is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the game of baseball. He is now one of only a handful of players to ever accomplish this remarkable feat and will surely go down in history as one of the greatest hitters of all time.
