John Christofilis, a star basketball player from O’Dea High School in Seattle, Washington, has recently transferred to Seattle University after a successful stint at Creighton University. Christofilis, a 6-foot-7 forward, was a four-year starter at O’Dea and was named the Metro League Player of the Year in 2019. He was also a two-time All-State selection and was named to the All-Metro team three times.
At Creighton, Christofilis was a key contributor for the Bluejays, averaging 8.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game as a freshman. He was also named to the Big East All-Freshman team and was an honorable mention for the All-Big East team.
Christofilis’ decision to transfer to Seattle University was based on his desire to be closer to home and play in front of his family and friends. He also cited the school’s strong academic reputation and the opportunity to play for head coach Jim Hayford as reasons for his transfer.
Christofilis is expected to make an immediate impact for the Redhawks. He brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the team, and his ability to score from the perimeter will be a valuable asset. He will also provide much-needed depth in the frontcourt, as Seattle University lost two starters from last year’s team.
Christofilis’ transfer is a major coup for Seattle University, as they have added a talented player who is familiar with the city and has a great basketball pedigree. With Christofilis in the fold, the Redhawks have a chance to make some noise in the WAC this season and beyond.
