The Jacksonville Jaguars made a statement on Sunday, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 23-7 in London. Led by quarterback Gardner Minshew II and the defense, the Jaguars were able to pull off a strong victory in a foreign country.
Minshew had a solid performance, throwing for 201 yards and two touchdowns. He was able to spread the ball around, connecting with seven different receivers. His favorite target was DJ Chark Jr., who had five catches for 79 yards and a touchdown.
The Jaguars defense was the real star of the show, however. They held the Falcons to just seven points and only allowed them to gain 246 total yards. The defensive line was especially impressive, with defensive ends Josh Allen and Yannick Ngakoue combining for three sacks and two forced fumbles.
Cornerback CJ Henderson also had a great game, recording three tackles and an interception. Safety Ronnie Harrison had two tackles and an interception as well. Linebacker Myles Jack was also a standout, recording seven tackles and a forced fumble.
The Jaguars also got contributions from wide receiver Calvin Ridley and running back Leonard Fournette. Ridley had three catches for 33 yards and a touchdown, while Fournette rushed for 76 yards on 18 carries.
The win was the Jaguars’ first in London since 2012, and it was a great way to start the season. The defense was dominant, and the offense was able to make enough plays to get the job done. If the Jaguars can keep up this level of play, they could be in for a successful season.
