The Iowa Hawkeyes pulled off a stunning upset in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, defeating the Colorado Buffaloes 70-66. The Hawkeyes were led by freshman guard Caitlin Clark, who had an incredible second-half performance to help her team secure the victory.

Clark scored a game-high 28 points, including 17 in the second half. She was 7-of-14 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point range. She also had seven assists and five rebounds. Clark was the catalyst for the Hawkeyes, who trailed by as many as 11 points in the second half before mounting a comeback.

The Buffaloes had a strong start to the game, taking a 10-point lead into halftime. They were led by senior guard Mya Hollingshed, who had 18 points and eight rebounds. However, the Hawkeyes were able to contain her in the second half, limiting her to just six points.

The Hawkeyes were able to take advantage of Colorado’s cold shooting in the second half, as they shot just 33 percent from the field. Iowa also outrebounded Colorado 43-30, which was key in their victory.

The Hawkeyes will now face UConn in the Elite Eight. They will have to rely on Clark’s strong play if they want to have a chance against the Huskies. If she can continue her stellar play, Iowa has a chance to make a deep run in this tournament.
