The Indianapolis Colts’ Michael Pittman Jr. has cleared the concussion protocol after a hard hit from Atlanta Falcons’ Damontae Kazee during their Week 3 matchup. The hit occurred in the second quarter of the game when Pittman was running a route and Kazee came in with a shoulder-to-shoulder hit that sent the Colts’ wide receiver to the ground.
Pittman was able to get up and walk off the field under his own power, but he was immediately taken to the locker room for further evaluation. After being evaluated by the team’s medical staff, it was determined that he had suffered a concussion and he was placed in the league’s concussion protocol.
Fortunately, after passing all of the necessary tests, Pittman has been cleared from the concussion protocol and is now free to return to practice and play in the Colts’ upcoming games. This is great news for the Colts, as Pittman has been a key contributor to their offense this season. He has caught 11 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns in three games, and his presence will be a welcome addition to the team’s offense.
Kazee, on the other hand, was not so lucky. He was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play and was subsequently ejected from the game. The NFL also announced that Kazee would be fined $28,075 for his actions.
It is always good news when a player is able to clear the concussion protocol and return to action, and that is certainly the case with Michael Pittman Jr. With him back in action, the Colts should be able to continue their strong start to the season.
