After suffering a tough loss to the Washington Huskies, the Gonzaga Bulldogs men’s basketball team bounced back in a big way with a 78-40 victory over Mississippi Valley State. The Bulldogs were led by Corey Kispert, who had a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds. Kispert was joined by Joel Ayayi, who had 13 points and seven rebounds, and Admon Gilder, who had 12 points and four assists.
The Bulldogs came out of the gate strong, taking an early lead and never looking back. They held the Delta Devils to just 24% shooting from the field and forced them into 16 turnovers. The Bulldogs also dominated the glass, out-rebounding Mississippi Valley State 43-25.
The Bulldogs’ defense was the key to their victory, as they held the Delta Devils to just 16 points in the first half. This allowed them to build a comfortable lead that they never relinquished.
The Bulldogs’ offense was also impressive, as they shot 54% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc. They also had 18 assists on their 30 made field goals, showing that they were able to move the ball well and find open shots.
This was an important win for the Bulldogs, as it showed that they can bounce back from a tough loss and still play well. It also showed that their defense is capable of shutting down even the toughest opponents.
The Bulldogs will look to continue their winning ways when they take on the San Diego Toreros on Saturday. If they can keep playing at this level, they should be able to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament this year.
