It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Ghanaian soccer player Raphael Dwamena, who collapsed during an Albanian Super League match on Sunday. The 26-year-old was playing for Partizani Tirana when he suddenly collapsed during the match. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he passed away shortly after.
Raphael Dwamena was born in Accra, Ghana, and began his soccer career at the age of 12. He went on to play for a number of clubs in Ghana, including Accra Hearts of Oak and Liberty Professionals. In 2017, he moved to Europe to play for FC Zurich in Switzerland. After two years with the club, he signed with Partizani Tirana in Albania.
Raphael Dwamena was a talented and beloved player who was known for his skill and determination on the field. He was a leader both on and off the pitch, and his teammates looked up to him as an example of what it means to be a professional athlete. His passing has left a void in the soccer world that will be hard to fill.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Raphael Dwamena’s family and friends during this difficult time. He will be remembered as a great player and an even better person. May he rest in peace.
