The top seven teams in the AP Top 25 Poll remain unchanged, but Georgia’s grip on the No. 1 spot has weakened. The Bulldogs, who had held the top spot for the last three weeks, dropped to No. 2 after receiving 1,567 points in the latest poll, down from 1,621 points the previous week.
The new No. 1 is Duke, which received 1,611 points in the latest poll. The Blue Devils have been steadily climbing up the rankings since the start of the season and have now overtaken Georgia for the top spot.
Meanwhile, Kentucky and Louisville have both entered the poll for the first time this season. The Wildcats come in at No. 19 with 541 points, while the Cardinals are No. 23 with 441 points.
It’s been an impressive start to the season for both teams, as Kentucky has won 10 of its first 11 games and Louisville has won eight of its first nine. Both teams have also been impressive on the defensive end, with Kentucky allowing an average of just 59.7 points per game and Louisville allowing an average of 58.8 points per game.
The top seven teams in the AP Top 25 Poll have all been consistent this season, with Duke, Michigan State, Virginia, Gonzaga, Tennessee, Kansas and Nevada all remaining in the top seven for the fourth consecutive week.
It will be interesting to see if Georgia can reclaim the No. 1 spot in the coming weeks or if Duke can hold on to its lead. Either way, it’s clear that Kentucky and Louisville are two teams to watch as they continue to make their mark on college basketball this season.
