Georgia Tech Overcomes 14-Point Deficit to Defeat UCF 30-17 in Gasparilla Bowl Behind King and Haynes’ Performance

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets had a thrilling victory in the 2019 Gasparilla Bowl, overcoming a 14-point deficit to defeat the UCF Knights 30-17. The Yellow Jackets were led by quarterback James Graham and running backs Jordan Mason and Jerry Howard, who combined for over 200 yards of total offense.

The Yellow Jackets started off the game slowly, trailing 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. However, Georgia Tech was able to rally in the second quarter, scoring two touchdowns to take a 17-14 lead into halftime.

The third quarter saw the Yellow Jackets extend their lead to 23-14 behind the strong play of quarterback James Graham and running back Jordan Mason. Mason rushed for over 100 yards and two touchdowns, while Graham threw for over 200 yards and one touchdown.

The fourth quarter saw the Yellow Jackets put the game away with a touchdown from running back Jerry Howard. Howard finished with over 100 yards of total offense and one touchdown.

The Yellow Jackets’ defense also played a key role in the victory, holding UCF to just three points in the second half. Linebackers Bruce Jordan-Swilling and Jaquan Henderson led the way with nine tackles each, while safety Tariq Carpenter added seven tackles and an interception.
