Garcia and Carter Home Runs Lead Rangers to 7-1 Wild Card Series Sweep of Rays

The Texas Rangers have been on a roll lately, and that continued on Wednesday night as they swept the Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card Series. Led by home runs from Joey Gallo and Carlos Correa, the Rangers won 7-1 to advance to the ALDS.

Gallo and Correa both hit solo home runs in the first inning to give the Rangers an early 2-0 lead. Gallo’s home run was his first of the postseason, while Correa’s was his second. The Rangers then added two more runs in the third inning on a single from Isiah Kiner-Falefa and a sacrifice fly from Rougned Odor.

The Rays got on the board in the fourth inning with a solo home run from Randy Arozarena, but the Rangers responded with three more runs in the fifth inning. Gallo drove in another run with a single, and Correa drove in two more with a double.

The Rangers’ pitching was stellar all night, with starter Lance Lynn allowing just one run over six innings. Relievers Brett Martin and Joely Rodriguez combined for three scoreless innings to close out the game.

The Rangers will now face the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS. They will have their work cut out for them, but with the way they have been playing lately, they have a good chance of advancing. The home runs from Gallo and Correa were key to their success in the Wild Card Series, and they will need to continue their hot hitting if they want to keep their postseason run alive.
