The Phoenix Suns were able to come away with a 120-107 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night, and in the process, Kevin Durant moved up to 11th all-time in points.
Durant finished the game with a total of 28 points, which pushed him past Elvin Hayes on the all-time scoring list. He now has 27,316 career points, which puts him just behind Hakeem Olajuwon for 10th all-time.
Durant was not the only one who had a big night for the Suns. Devin Booker scored a game-high 33 points and Chris Paul added 22 points and 12 assists. The Suns also got contributions from Mikal Bridges (14 points), Jae Crowder (13 points) and Deandre Ayton (11 points).
The Trail Blazers were led by Damian Lillard, who had 26 points and seven assists. CJ McCollum added 22 points and Jusuf Nurkic had 16 points and eight rebounds.
The Suns’ victory was their fourth in a row and it improved their record to 32-14. They are now just one game behind the Utah Jazz for first place in the Western Conference.
Durant’s milestone is just another example of his greatness. He is one of the greatest players of all time and he is still going strong at age 34. He is sure to move up even further on the all-time scoring list before he is done playing.
The Suns will look to keep their winning streak alive when they take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.
