The Colorado Buffaloes put on a show for the sold-out crowd at Folsom Field on Saturday night, as they defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers 36-14 in the home debut of freshman quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Sanders, the son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, made his first start in a Colorado uniform and did not disappoint. He completed 15 of 22 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a rushing touchdown. He was named the game’s MVP for his performance.
The Buffaloes offense was clicking all night, as they racked up 474 total yards and scored on five of their six trips to the red zone. Running back Jarek Broussard had a career day, rushing for a career-high 191 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Brenden Rice also had a great game, hauling in six catches for 103 yards and a touchdown.
The Buffaloes defense was also impressive, holding the Cornhuskers to just 14 points and forcing three turnovers. Linebacker Nate Landman led the way with 11 tackles and an interception.
The win was Colorado’s fourth in a row and improved their record to 4-1 on the season. With Sanders at the helm, the Buffaloes look poised to make a run at the Pac-12 title this season.
The game was a special moment for Sanders and his family, as his father Deion was in attendance to watch his son make his home debut. After the game, Deion took to Twitter to express his pride in his son’s performance.
