It’s been a long road back for Damar Hamlin, but the Pittsburgh Steelers safety is finally making progress after suffering a season-ending knee injury last year. Coach Sean McDermott recently praised Hamlin’s comeback progress, noting that he has been working hard to get back to full strength.
McDermott said, “Damar has done a great job of coming back from his injury. He’s worked extremely hard to get back to full strength and it’s really showing in his play. He’s been able to stay healthy and has been making plays on the field.”
Hamlin suffered a torn ACL in Week 11 of the 2019 season, ending his season prematurely. He had been a key contributor for the Steelers defense, recording 33 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in just 10 games.
Since then, Hamlin has been working hard to get back to full health and it appears to be paying off. He has been participating in team drills and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2020 season.
McDermott also noted that Hamlin’s work ethic and determination have been inspiring to the rest of the team. “Damar’s dedication and commitment to getting back on the field has been an inspiration to everyone. He’s worked hard and it’s great to see him out there making plays.”
Hamlin will be an important part of the Steelers defense this season and McDermott is confident that he will be ready for the start of the season. It’s clear that Hamlin has put in the work to get back to full strength and McDermott is proud of his progress.
