The Clemson Tigers men’s soccer team has done it again! On Sunday, December 15th, they won their fourth national title in school history with a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame in the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship.
The Tigers were led by goals from junior Robbie Parrish and freshman Ousseni Sylla. Parrish scored the first goal in the 22nd minute, giving Clemson a 1-0 lead. Sylla then scored the game-winning goal in the 81st minute, giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead that they would not relinquish.
The win marks the fourth national title for Clemson men’s soccer, and the first since 2007. It is also the first time in school history that Clemson has won a national title in consecutive years.
The Tigers were led by head coach Mike Noonan, who was named the National Coach of the Year for 2019. Noonan has been at the helm of the Clemson program since 2011, and has led the team to four ACC titles and four NCAA tournament appearances during his tenure.
The win was especially sweet for senior defender Patrick Bunk-Andersen, who was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the tournament. Bunk-Andersen was a key part of Clemson’s defense throughout the season, and his leadership was instrumental in helping the Tigers win their fourth title.
The victory was also a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Clemson men’s soccer team. From the coaching staff to the players, everyone worked together to make this championship run possible.
Congratulations to the Clemson Tigers men’s soccer team on their fourth national title!
