The Carolina Panthers suffered a tough 16-13 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday, and the offense was largely to blame. The Panthers had just two field goals and one touchdown to show for their efforts, and rookie quarterback Bryce Young took the blame for the defeat.
Young, who was making his first NFL start, was under pressure all game long and was sacked four times. He completed just 17 of his 30 pass attempts for 165 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception. Young was also the Panthers’ leading rusher, carrying the ball nine times for 30 yards.
The Panthers’ offense struggled to get into a rhythm all game long, as they managed just two drives of over 40 yards. They also failed to convert any of their four third-down attempts, which was a major factor in their inability to sustain drives.
The Bears’ defense deserves credit for their performance, as they held the Panthers to just 13 points. They sacked Young four times and forced him into several bad throws, while also limiting the Panthers’ running game to just 3.3 yards per carry.
Young took responsibility for the loss after the game, saying he needed to do better and that he had to be more accurate with his passes. He also said that he needs to make better decisions with the ball and that he has to be more consistent in order for the Panthers to have success.
The Panthers will look to bounce back next week when they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It will be a tough test for the Panthers’ offense, but if Young can improve his play and make better decisions, they may have a chance to get back in the win column.
