The Carolina Hurricanes have activated forward Andrei Svechnikov from injured reserve. The 20-year-old Russian forward has been out since October 30th when he suffered a concussion in a fight with Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin.
Svechnikov was the second overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft and had a strong rookie season with the Hurricanes, scoring 20 goals and 37 points in 82 games. He was expected to take a big step forward this season and was off to a good start with five points in seven games before the injury.
The Hurricanes have been without Svechnikov for nearly a month, but they’ve managed to stay afloat in his absence. They currently sit in fourth place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 11-7-1.
Svechnikov’s return should provide a huge boost to the Hurricanes’ offense. He’s a dynamic player who can create scoring chances with his speed and skill. He also has a knack for getting to the net and creating havoc around the crease.
The Hurricanes will be happy to have Svechnikov back in the lineup, and he should be able to help them make a push for the playoffs. He’s an exciting player to watch and his return should give the team a much-needed spark.
