Cade Marlowe Hits 9th-Inning Grand Slam to Lead Mariners to Comeback Victory Over Shohei Ohtani and Angels

The Seattle Mariners pulled off a thrilling comeback victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night, thanks in large part to a dramatic 9th-inning grand slam from Cade Marlowe.

The Mariners were trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the 9th inning when Marlowe stepped up to the plate. He quickly fell behind in the count 0-2, but battled back to work the count full. On the ninth pitch of the at-bat, Marlowe launched a fastball from Shohei Ohtani deep into the left-field stands for a grand slam, giving the Mariners a 6-3 lead.

The grand slam was Marlowe’s first of the season and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The Mariners had been struggling to score runs all game, and Marlowe’s heroics gave them the lead they needed to pull off the comeback victory.

Marlowe’s grand slam was especially impressive considering he was facing one of the best pitchers in baseball in Ohtani. Ohtani had been dominant all night, striking out 10 batters and allowing just two runs in seven innings of work. But Marlowe was able to come through in the clutch and put an exclamation point on the Mariners’ victory.

The Mariners will look to build on this win as they continue their push for a playoff spot. With Marlowe providing heroics like this, they have a good chance of making it to the postseason.
